Customs

Customs legislation is currently EU legislation, the Union Customs Code provides the framework and operating procedures for all 28 member states. This may change if Brexit comes into force. However what shape or form that may take will be in the detail if a deal gets agreed.

At ABLK we can provide guidance in the following areas:

  • AEO - Authorised Economic Operator, this is an EU accreditation that provides a significant amount of simplified procedures. Post Brexit could see a simpler transition for accredited companies.
  • CtPAT - Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism - Similar to AEO for Companies who supply goods to the United States.
  • Export guidance -  Supplying goods with the correct commodity codes, CPC's and the correct accompanying docs can ensure a swift departure ensuring your goods qualify for zero VAT rating.
  • Import Clearance - Bringing goods into the country can be impacted with incorrect data, classification of your goods etc will lead to delays impacting service and increased costs.
  • Importing Excise goods - There are additional requirements over and above the Customs clearance to import Excise goods into the country
  • Commodity Codes  - classifying your goods correctly can save time and over or underpayment of Customs Duty
  • Free Trade Agreements - (FTA's) currently there are a number of FTA's that the European Union have negotiated that the UK can utilise, this will change post Brexit. Ensuring you are utilising FTA's can reduce your supply costs.
  • Life after Brexit - Importing from the EU, Exporting to the EU
  • Trading in Northern Ireland - Moving goods to and from Northern Ireland
